About Volunteer Films

Volunteer Films is funded by the Cabinet Office (Office of the Third Sector) with the aim to support small community organisations and encourage volunteering in the film and TV industry.

Since Volunteer Films began in 2005, 75 films have been made for small charities around the country.

Volunteer Films 2008 (Fourth series)

The fourth series of Volunteer Films 2008 is currently in production. The project began in April 2008 and will run through to September 2008, with films being broadcast on Community Channel around Christmas.

This series will see films being produced for charities such as 'Education and Resources for Improving Childhood Continence', 'Coventry Refugee Centre' and 'Cheshire Furniture Re-Use Forum'.

Volunteer Films 2007 (Third series)

Volunteer Films 2007 saw films produced for charities such as Miscarriage Association, Save our World, UK Youth Parliament and Kids Cookery School. To view a selection of these films see the 'View our films' section.

As part of this series, six films were made for Media Trust’s It’s All About U campaign and were broadcast on BBC Big Screens. A 30 second promo was produced for BeatBullying to coincide with Anti-bullying week in November and formed part of the YouTube/anti-bullying page. 

Volunteer Films 2006 (Second series)

Volunteer Films 2006 gained the support of key players in the TV Industry. BBC Training made three films and leading production companies such as Fulcrum TV (London), True North Productions (Leeds) and Available Light (Bristol) also produced films for this series. There’s been the odd celebrity appearance too, with voice over recorded by DJ Spoony & Jon Snow. Guest appearances included sport personalities Kathy Grainger and Tanni Gray Thompson and Bollywood Actress Juhi Chawla.
