So Media Trust is pleased to announce a series of subsidised courses specifically designed for second tier. These full-day (10am-4pm) courses, entitled Planning Your Marketing Activities and Planning Your PR Activities will be held in all nine English regions from August onwards.

Media training for Equality Groups
11 March 2010, 10am-4pm (Nottingham)
Cost: £50
Do you want to know how to deal with negative media coverage of equality groups – BME, disabled people, gypsies and travellers, lesbians and gay men, refugees, migrants and/or others?
This training aims to provide delegates with invaluable and practical public relations tools for dealing with the media. You will develop an understanding of what media relations is and how it can benefit your organisation and the frontline groups that you work with. You will equip yourself with skills to gain local and national media coverage from writing a press release to planning a great photo to dealing with negative coverage, including complaints.

Planning Your Marketing Activities
Intermediate level
10am-4pm, £50 (standard rate £120)
This course will help you start to think and work strategically on your marketing activities. You will learn how to set clear objectives and put together a marketing plan as well as individual action plan to ensure all your activities are successful. You will discover which channels offer the best return on investment (ROI) and are the most effective for engaging your target audience. You will get practical tips and hands on support to provide you with all the tools you need to market your organisation effectively.

Planning Your PR Activities
Intermediate level
10am-4pm, £50 (standard rate £120)
On this course you will develop a strategic approach to public relations. Learn how to focus your activities on the right media to reach your target audience, how to make the most of your events, case studies and spokespeople and maximise coverage. Find out more about how to tailor your press release and pitch to different outlets, from national press and mainstream news to local radio and niche publications. You will learn and appreciate the intricate relationship between PR and other disciplines and start thinking about innovative way to get your message out.
