We have a long-standing successful relationship with News UK and this year we have worked with a number of titles to combine editorial campaigns with staff volunteering.
In 2012, for the third consecutive year, Media Trust and The Sun partnered to launch Column Idol and provide six young people aged 18-25 with the opportunity to be mentored by top Sun journalists through Media Trust's youth mentoring scheme - and for one lucky winner to see their column printed in the paper. The Sun columnists Lorraine Kelly and Katie Price, as well as Labrinth, producer and singer-songwriter, supported the competition.
The Change Makers
In March 2012, Community Channel and The Sunday Times came together to launch ʻThe Change Makersʼ, a campaign to find our social entrepreneur of the year. The winner of the competition was featured in an interview published in The Sunday Times newspaper, received a raft of professional media support from The Sunday Times and was awarded £500 from Media Trust to further their work through digital media.
The Times and Party Conferences
For the fifth consecutive year, Media Trust partnered with The Times to ensure young voices were heard at the political party conferences. This year, we took two aspiring female political journalists, Flaminia Giambalvo and Zaneta Denny, giving them a chance to put their questions to decision makers and make their mark at the biggest event of the political calendar.
