Bulls will help children get active

Wednesday 8th February 2012

Youngsters are being urged to get involved in sports and dance camps this half-term to get a taste of a wide range of sporting activities, and meet some professional rugby players.

Staff from Tong High School and volunteers from the Bradford Bulls Foundation Team are delivering the sports camps, which will include yet-to-be-decided members of the Bulls first team attending to give a talk.

The camps will be taking place at the school on February 13 and 14 and aim to get children involved and interested in physical activity, encouraging participation in sports from football to basketball, rugby to hockey.

The dance camp is being led by A-level student Danielle Robinson, who attended a cheerleading coaching course funded by the school.

Tong High School sport enterprise manager Claire Caunce said: "We are excited about the holiday camp scheme.

"This is only the third initiative we have run and already we have nearly 40 youngsters involved.

"With obesity so high on the news agenda, we hope this scheme will encourage them to become involved in physical activity and with the link-up with the Bradford Bulls Foundation, there is also the opportunity to access further training and apprentice schemes."

The camps will run between 10am and 2pm and cost £5 per day. For more information, contact Claire Caunce on 01274 474591.
