Runner on target for marathon goal

Thursday 19th April 2012

Marathon runner Ian MacKenzie is on track to raise £1,000 for the charity he works for by running the Virgin London Marathon.

Ian, a drugs and alcohol charity worker, has spent months training for the 26.2 mile race and has obtained personal bests in warm up runs. He ran a half marathon last month in 1 hour 47 minutes.

Ian, an experienced runner from Birmingham, is raising money for Swanswell, which helps people overcome drug, alcohol and other problem behaviour.

Ian, a senior practitioner for the charity, said: "It's been a pretty intense winter of training but I'm really looking forward to the big day."

Ian will join 35,000 runners for the marathon on April 22. To support Ian with his marathon challenge, visit http://www.justgiving.com/Ian-MacKenzie-VLM.
