A woman with a fear of heights is preparing to jump out of a plane for charity in memory of her nan.
Charlotte Allen will take part in the skydive on May 19 to mark her late nan Mary Hallam's 84th birthday.
The 23-year-old, from Long Eaton, in Derbyshire, will be raising funds for Treetops Hospice, whose nurses provided end-of-life care to Mary at her home when she became bed bound due to bowel cancer.
Mary was given 24-hour respite care at home to allow her family to have some rest before her death in February 2011.
Charlotte said: "She wanted to be at home and we'd do anything to keep her at home so it was a relief that someone was there to help.
"Being able to have a break now and again made all the difference to granddad and the rest of the family. Granddad wanted to do everything himself, but at his age it was a lot to take on."
Charlotte and her mum Janice have already raised more than £1,000 for the charity, which provides services for people with life-limiting illnesses.
Charlotte said: "I am so scared of heights but I wanted to do something that would be a real challenge. Hopefully people will sponsor me because with more money Treetops will be able to help more families like mine at what is a really difficult time."
