Car rental firm supports homeless

Thursday 12th April 2012

Homeless people will benefit from a car rental initiative which has helped raise thousands of pounds for charity.

Rental car website Carrentals.co.uk has raised £5,662 for Streetsmart through its Book And Donate days.

The scheme saw the online firm give £1 to the homeless charity for every car rental made in January.

Carrental's 12 Days Of Christmas scheme also generated £700 in prize money for the charity, which supports education, training, and housing for homeless people.

In total, Carrental raised £2,831 which was then doubled through a Government match-funding scheme.

Gareth Robinson, managing director of Carrentals.co.uk, said: "It's a real privilege to work with such progressive charities as Streetsmart, and we're delighted to have raised so much money for them through our Book And Donate work.

"Our customers are a generous lot and their contributions will enable to keep Streetsmart working on its vital projects for the UK homeless."
