Nine young people have been taught expert mediation skills which they will use to diffuse conflict in schools and youth clubs.
Students from Copland School, and Poplar Grove School, both in Wembley; and Westminster Academy and Coram Children's Charity, in City of London, took part in a three-day training course on conflict resolution techniques.
The Peaceful Solutions For Young People course was run by charity The Centre For Peaceful Solutions which is committed to resolving disputes peacefully.
All nine trained in theory, practice, role play and group work to become peer mediators. They will now use their skills in dispute resolution at school and youth clubs.
Pupils have also discussed with their teachers ways to implement peer mediation at their schools.
Maria Arpa, founder of the centre, said: "The schools nominated young people who are not afraid to challenge the adults around them. We were clearly able to demonstrate that even the most challenging young people can rise to achievement when they trust the environment they are expected to operate in.
"As adults we have much to do in helping young people navigate the complex and confusing world we have created for them. My vision is to develop our Youth Dispute Resolution project so that mediation becomes the norm and first choice for peer conflict."
Each pupil received a course completion certificate when the course ended.
The training was part of the project for peer mediation and conflict resolution in London Boroughs of Brent and Westminster.
