Runners to put in Sterling effort

Monday 30th April 2012

Workers from a property company have signed up to a 10 kilometre race to support the work of a children's charity.

Staff at Sterling Properties, in Bury, will run the Bupa Great Manchester Run in aid of MedEquip4Kids, which helps provide medical equipment to hospitals across the North West.

Anthony Hunt, from Sterling Properties, said: "Our team are running to raise money for MedEquip4Kids to help support some of the great projects they make possible. Whether it's to help raise the £4,000 needed for children's accident and emergency equipment for North Manchester General or a portable ventilator for the neonatal unit at the Royal Oldham Hospital; we know that all our hard work and the fun we have taking part in the Great Manchester Run will make a genuine difference to local children's lives and that is worth all the blisters and sore muscles we know we'll have."

The Bupa Great Manchester Run is the UK's biggest 10k event and takes place on May 20.

Sarah Suthers, community fundraiser for MedEquip4Kids, said: "We're so grateful for the support we are getting from Sterling Properties for taking on the challenge. The Manchester 10k is a fantastic event for runners of every ability to get out and raise funds, and the atmosphere on the day is always really supportive."

Money raised from the Great Manchester Run will be used to provide equipment at Royal Bolton, North Manchester and Royal Oldham hospitals.

The charity still has places in its team. To join it call 0161 7981600.
