Cheer squad needed for marathon

Tuesday 3rd April 2012

A charity wants to encourage its runners in the London Marathon by setting up cheer squads around the course.

Children With Cancer is appealing for supporters to join it at any of eight strategic cheering points along the 26.2 mile route on April 22.

The charity has about 1,200 people running in its Mr Men and Little Miss Team who will be wearing bright yellow and blue Mr Happy and Mr Tickle running vests.

A spokesman said: "To give our runners every possible support and encouragement, we have strategic cheering points along the race route. We'd love you to come and help us cheer them on."

Cheer squads will be based at Cutty Sark, Salter Road, Tower Bridge, Westferry Road, South Colonnade, The Highway, Buckingham Palace and the finish.

Supporters receive a complimentary sweatshirt and baseball cap to wear on the day. To join in, email run@childrenwithcancer.org.uk.
