The Horse Trust is throwing their first major community event at their animal sanctuary in Buckinghamshire.
Horses, Heroes and Hounds Family Fun Day is a joint fundraiser with Hounds For Heroes and will include a Spitfire fly past, as well as special appearances by Thames Valley Police Mounted Section; the Light Cavalry and the Wycombe Wanderers FC mascot, Bodger.
There will also be pony rides, a falconry display, army assault course and ferret racing at the event held at The Horse Trust's Home of Rest for Horses in Speen.
Stokenchurch Dog Rescue will be running a dog show with entries such as best fancy dress, best rescued and waggiest tail.
Susan Lewis, from the Horse Trust, said: "It is a huge community event, the first that has ever been held at our magnificent horse sanctuary, and we would be delighted to welcome you and your family.
"Our sanctuary for retired working horses, ponies and donkeys in Speen is a wonderful setting for such an event and the surrounds stunning. We hope to welcome lots of visitors and to raise much needed funds for both The Horse Trust and Hounds for Heroes."
The Horse Trust was founded in 1886 and provides a retreat for former working horses and those that need special treatment.
Hounds for Heroes is specially-trained assistant dogs for disabled military and emergency service men and women.
The Horses, Heroes and Hounds Family Fun Day will be held at the Horse Trust's Home of Rest for Horses on Sunday, May 6 from 11am to 7pm. Entry is a £1 for adults or £2 for the event programme which permits entry for the whole family.
