A grandmother is teaming up with her daughter to complete a marathon in an effort to raise funds for charity After Adoption.
Pam Scott, 61, from Grassendale in Liverpool, is adamant she will not let her double hip replacement stop her from fulfilling a lifelong ambition to finish a marathon.
Pam will be taking on the 26.2-mile Liverpool Marathon on October 14 with her daughter Vicci Boyd. Vicci is a lecturer in coaching and sports development at Liverpool John Moore University and a former England hammer thrower.
The duo hope to raise £1,000 for After Adoption which has an office in Liverpool.
Vicci, 31, a mum of four, said: "Mum and I have always wanted to complete a marathon and just love kids so it seemed perfect to run for After Adoption. It's a good excuse for us to get out and about and spend some quality time together."
Pam's surgery will prevent her from running the marathon; but she aims to complete it by power walking.
Louise Magill, fundraising manager at After Adoption, said: "We are delighted that Pam and Vicci will compete in the Liverpool Marathon for After Adoption. This is a fantastic personal challenge and we wish them all the best."
