Amateur songwriter Tessa Cox is to attend the Queen's Garden Party at Buckingham Palace after penning a song for the Diamond Jubilee.
Tessa, 48, will be the guest of charity founder and choir leader Grenville Jones who has used her song for a Diamond Jubilee project.
Tessa, who lives near Bath with her husband and two children, said: "I had an idea in mind for a song to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and contacted Grenville who immediately said that he wanted to hear it. Little did I know that he was working on a project called Jubilee Time After Time."
The project, by the Golden Oldies Charitable Trust, known as Goldies, encourages schools across the West of England to engage with the elderly in their communities. It is funded by the Big Lottery Fund.
Tessa, who first met Grenville when he was a judge at a songwriting competition, said: "When he heard me playing and singing Diamond Day he immediately said that this would be the theme for the Jubilee Time After Time project."
Months later, when Grenville received his invitation for the May 22 garden party he immediately thought to take Tessa.
He said: "Tessa was the obvious choice. Diamond Day is a lovely song and through our schools project we now have hundreds of children who are learning it as part of their School Jubilee Celebration."
The song, in the key of C, was first sang by Colerne Primary School, which is based just outside of Bath.
Grenville said: "Colerne School sent a CD of the song to the Queen with a specially illustrated card designed by the children. They received a letter from Buckingham Palace saying how much Her Majesty liked the CD of the children singing Diamond Day."
On May 18, 300 children from Weston-super-Mare will perform the song at The Playhouse Theatre.
