Phil Bullas, Mike Grisenthwaite, Paul Barrett and Emerson Osmond (left to right) are to cycle from Liverpool to Grimsby to raise money for Cylists Fighting Cancer.
For his big night of the year Father Christmas turns to his trusty sleigh, but five Santas will be opting for two wheels for an upcoming fundraising challenge.
The team of Santas will ride Raleigh Chopper bikes from coast-to-coast calling at Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool, Manchester Children's Hospital and Sheffield Children's Hospital en route for Santas' Chopper Challenge.
It is being led by Mike Grisenthwaite, from Stratford upon-Avon, the founder of national charity Cyclists Fighting Cancer (CFC), which donates bikes, specially adapted trikes and tandems to children and young people affected by cancer to encourage them to get active again.
He will be joined by Phil Bullas, a trustee of CFC from Dickens Heath, West Midlands; Emerson Osmond, manager at UCAS, from Cheltenham; Paul Barrett, creative lead at BSkyB, who also lives in Cheltenham and Dave Granger from Evesham, who is a cabinet member and CFC trustee.
The cyclists will set off on Friday December 2 from the Pier Head, at Liverpool and aim to ride 155 miles in three days, finishing at Dock Tower, Grimsby. The Santas hope to raise upwards of £10,000.
Mike, himself a cancer survivor, said: "Hopefully we will be joined by some of our young fighters on route and our aim is to bring smiles to their faces and to highlight the amazing benefits of cycling as a way of regaining and maintaining fitness levels for these brave cancer survivors.
"We will also be making brief fundraising stops in major towns along the way, rattling tins and having a grin with locals and passers by."
