Terms and conditions

The following is a list of terms and conditions relevant to all of the media placements offered.

  1. To apply for a place you will need to send an email, relevant details as requested and a covering letter as stated.
  2. All applicants must have the prior permission from their line manager to apply.
  3. Please note all travel and expenses associated with a placement must be met by the individual and are not the responsibility of Media Trust or the participating media organisation.
  4. All applicants must have currently hold a paid position in a registered charity or a constituted not-for-profit organisation and have at least one years experience of liaising with the media on behalf of their organisation.
  5. No person can apply who has previously worked, or who currently work in a media organisation as a researcher, journalist, feature writer or producer for more than two months.
  6. Closing date midnight Friday October 3rd 2008.
  7. Successful appplicants will be notified by email or phone within 10 days of the closing date.
  8. Placements will be awarded to successful applicants foremost on suitability and locality, but consultation may take place if required.
  9. Candidates' salary costs for the period of the placement must be met by their employer.
  10. Length of placements may vary depending on the media organisation offering the opportunity and specific working hours will be negotiated directly. If a candidate works on a part time basis, time off in lieu or other arrangements should be agreed with their own organisation in advance of the placement.
  11. Applications are open to organisations of any size. However, we will endeavour to award the majority of places to organisations with an income of less £750,000 per annum.
  12. The decision by Media Trust as to whom and how many candidates gain these placements will be final.
  13. All successful applicants must be willing to record their media placement experience, e.g. a short report, within two weeks of their placement ending.
  14. Records of placements may be used by Media Trust for future promotional activities.
  15. Anyone in receipt of a placement will be expected to sign a confidentiality agreement in advance of his or her placement.
  16. The cancellation of any placements due to unforeseen circumstances is entirely at the discretion of the organisers.
  17. If any person awarded a placement is not able, for whatever reason, to accept it,  then Media Trust reserves the right to award the placement to another suitable candidate.
  18. If awarded a placement and you cannot attend, reasonable notification must be given to Media Trust. If no notification is received and you do not attend a placement you will not be eligible to apply for any future Media Connections placements and your charity will be notified of your non-attendance.
  19. Media Trust accepts no responsibility for incomplete, lost, damaged, incomprehensible or indecipherable applications and all such applications shall be disqualified.
  20. Successful applicants must agree to participate in such reasonable publicity as may be requested by Media Trust for promotional purposes.
  21. While on a placement all relevant health and safety requirements of the participating media organisations involved must be adhered to.
  22. Media Trust reserves the right to modify or vary placements and/or these terms and conditions at any time.
