Role description
To assist the Technical Co-ordinator with internal and external duplication jobs, DVD encoding and authoring, artwork design & small edit jobs. See below for further details.
Technical
- assist with tape dubbing/transfers
- assist with transfers for VHS library
- label all master tapes/DVDs neatly and clearly
Shoots & Edits
- provide support as required on shoots & media training
- assist with digitising & playouts on FCPro and Avid
- carry out minor edits on FCPro
Specific Duplication Duties
- assist with obtaining duplication quotes
- assist with retrieval of master tapes from duplicators
- assist with processing and tracking of duplication orders from start to finish
Specific DVD Duties
- carry out DVD encoding and authoring
- carry out DVD cloning
- carry out artwork layout and design for DVD/VHS on-body and sleeves
- carry out transfers of master tapes to new DVD library
General Duties
- book couriers & taxis
- assist with call sheets and production admin
- update production handbook with new contacts and procedures
- enter and maintain production contacts on the Media Trust database
- respond quickly and effectively to all inquiries during office hours
- keep production office clean and tidy
Other duties
The Media Trust is a tightly resourced, tightly staffed organisation. All volunteers are therefore expected to show flexibility in their work. You will on occasion be expected to carry out duties not specified in your role brief.
Volunteering at Media Trust
At any one time there are between six and ten full-time volunteers working on a range of projects across the organisation. Each volunteer has a specified role and line manager and is also supported by the Office Manager. Media Trust volunteers have a track record of moving into interesting jobs in the media and charity sector and recent volunteers are now working in paid employment for organisations such as Two Hand Productions, Dow Jones, Comic Relief, Markettiers 4dc, and Media Trust.
