Background:

Reporting to the Media Trust Finance Director, and working closely with the Media Trust Senior Management Team, you will have responsibility for securing new funds for Media Trust (including Community Channel and Community Newswire) from grant-making trusts , public sector funders,  and corporate donors and sponsors. You will research and write a range of bids, and ensure effective monitoring, evaluation and reporting to funders and donors.

Job description:

  • Work with senior managers to plan, write, deliver, update and monitor fund raising strategy across the organisation
  • Plan, co-ordinate and project manage the preparation of funding bids across the organisation
  • Work with senior managers to agree projects and programmes that attract funding, including existing work (Community Channel, training events, Community newswire) and new projects e.g. programme strands on TV
  • Work with project managers to develop new, compelling projects to expand services
  • Write applications to potential funders, reports, and other related documentation
  • Ensure all past, present and potential funders receive regular reports on progress, as well as other relevant materials
  • Research priorities of potential funders
  • Develop methodologies to develop and evaluate outputs and compelling outcomes for funders
  • Support and monitor delivery managers to ensure projects are successfully delivered to agreed outcomes and outputs
  • Provide support to related activities e.g. Media Trust corporate events and marketing
  • Work with freelance consultants, and/or other staff as appropriate

  • Ability to work as part of a team with good interpersonal and communications skills
  • Minimum of three years experience raising income from corporate foundations or through sponsorship and fundraising from grant-making trusts and other public sector sources such as the lottery, unless you can prove exceptional skills.
  • Good working knowledge of the charity and voluntary sector, and/or of social action and public service broadcasting
