The Inspiring Voices awards celebrate the varied and inspiring ways communities have made a positive difference to their lives with the help of digital media.

Inspiring Voices is part of the Community Voices programme funded by the Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). The Community Voices programme supports disadvantaged communities making a positive difference to their lives by using creative digital media.
The Inspiring Voices scheme was originally launched in October 2009, and highlighted some fantastic use of digital media by a range of communities. To further celebrate the work of communities using digital media, Media Trust decided to launch the awards scheme again in November 2010.
In the latest round which closed in January 2011, Media Trust has made new awards of £500 each to communities from around England. The groups have used radio, photography, websites and film to change their situation.
The new winners include the Blue Horizons project, Justvisiting.com in Gateshead, South Leeds Community Radio (pictured above), The Connection at St. Martin's in London, Our Voice Our Say in Sunderland, Netbuddy.org.uk in London, Radio Marmalade in Wokingham, and Unsane Rhapsody in Totnes, Devon.
