Media Trust is calling for aspiring young writers and reporters aged 18-25 from across London to become community journalists, reporting on local grass roots news stories, for Community Channel’s TV and online magazine news show London360.
As community journalists the young people will be given a full day’s training in community journalism and be matched with a professional mentor from the media industry.
Anuvahood star and London360 supporter, Adam Deacon said “It can be really tough out there being young at the moment, so London360 gets my full support! Anything that can give talented, creative and driven young people the chance to learn new skills and reach their potential has to be a good thing in my eyes. London's young people get quite a hard time in thepress, but being a Hackney boy myself I know how many positive stories there are that continue to come out of my community and it's important we celebrate that fact.”
Jasmine Dotiwala, executive producer of London360 said: “This project gives young reporters, who don’t have much experience in the field, training and support and the opportunity to interview real power players and members of local communities. This training will allow them to deliver informative and compelling stories and ideas to Community Channel.”
Produced by young Londoners aged 18-25, Community Channel’s London360 is the only UK-wide television show that reports on community news stories from across the capital, and showcases the work of the city’s most innovative charities and campaigners.
