Caroline Diehl on the Big Society

Caroline DiehlCaroline Diehl, Chief Executive of Media Trust, writes about the reaction of the media industry to the new UK government's Big Society in this month's Raedar newsletter (Franklin Rae Communications, one of the UK's leading specialist PR agencies).

In her article, Caroline argues that voluntary groups and charities already underpin communities but need support from media and communications bodies.

'Communities desperately need the real tangible engagement of the media industry,' explains Caroline. 'It could well be that the media's involvement is the one factor which will make or break the current government's vision and ideals for a Big Society.'

'Media Trust wants to see the UK's creative, media and digital industry fully engaged in the Big Society, as mentors, volunteers, story-tellers and digital organisers, trainers, film-makers and online creators.'
