Hours:     4-5 days a week ideally but can be flexible

Public transport expenses reimbursed, subject to a weekly maximum

Job description
Working with the Head of Marketing and Communications, this role will be responsible for developing Media Trust’s social media channels, and for shaping and sharing quality content that communicates Media Trust’s work.

The role will cover a range of Social Media duties, from running and developing social media channels to using online software to manage and monitor daily content.

Key responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Head of Marketing and Communications to plan, coordinate, schedule and manage social media activity across channels including: Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook.
  • Liaise with all departments to develop social media content to ensure all areas of Media Trust’s work are represented.
  • Daily monitoring of Media Trust’s social media channels, responding to social queries and engaging in conversation, as required.
  • Regular monitoring of partner and industry updates and feeds, sharing and commenting on those that support the work of Media Trust
  • Attending Media Trust events and training courses, live tweeting and using applications such as Storify to capture what happened.
  • Managing Facebook ad campaigns, refining activity based on effectiveness.
  • Sourcing and optimising images using Photoshop.
  • Regular monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of Media Trust’s social channels, delivering monthly reports on social media activity and engagement
  • Where appropriate, work on other digital and social media activity and project related tasks as defined by the Head of Marketing and Communications.
  • Because we’re a charity, you will from time-to-time need to chip in to help with all kinds of other stuff to help the team, and this may even drag you away from a computer screen!

Person specification

  • The ideal candidate will be a whizz on social media and understand exactly how best to interact with an audience in the various social spaces.
  • The ideal candidate will have basic design skills on photoshop.
  • The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational skills.
  • The ideal candidate will be creative and not shy in bringing ideas to the table.
  • The successful candidate will have the ability to follow instructions, and have an eagle eye for detail.
  • They will have excellent written English and strong verbal communication skills.
  • The successful candidate will need to have the ability to work under pressure, and to keep a cool, calm head!
