Column Idol 2012 launches

Katie Price - Column Idol

We've joined up with The Sun to launch Column Idol 2012, a campaign to find raw undiscovered writing talent and get the voices of young people heard.

The competition, now in its third year, offers six 18-25 year olds the chance to be mentored by top journalists on the paper – with one lucky winner getting the chance to have their column printed in The Sun.

The competition was launched in The Sun newspaper today, and included a piece written by The Sun columnist Katie Price who said  "Competitions don't get much better than this. If you've got writing talent and something to say then this is your chance to be mentored by experienced journalists and get your voice heard in Britain’s biggest selling daily! I've been writing a column in The Sun for almost three months and it is one of the best privileges of my career so far. My advice to applicants is don't let anything hold you back, whatever your experience or education this is your chance to get your voice out there."

To enter, young people must submit a short description about themselves, what they’d like to write about and why they deserve to be crowned Column Idol 2012.

The closing date for entries is Friday, June 15 at midday. To enter and for terms and conditions please go to www.mediatrust.org/columnidol
