Travel expenses reimbursed, subject to maximum weekly amount of £52.00
Daily subsistence reimbursed, subject to a maximum daily amount of £3.60

Description of role:
Community Channel is the UK's only TV station dedicated to highlighting issues from the community, voluntary and charitable sector, both locally and internationally.

Volunteer Scheduling Assistant:
We are looking for a Scheduling Assistant to work 5 days per week. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in gaining further experience within a Channel environment. You will report to the Scheduler and work within a close team and assist in preparing the Presentation schedules. This would include Promotion scheduling and timing the Presentation logs for transmission. Whilst ensuring daily reports are sent to various external companies. Liaising with other channel departments and the Play out Centre.

Responsibilities to include:

  • Creating Presentation schedules
  • The scheduling of promotions, commercials and other interstitial items
  • Updating and maintaining the programme database
  • Chasing missing programmes from the Acquisitions and Editing departments
  • Contributing to 'Timing up' the completed Presentation schedules, to ensure all programmes transmit at their specific scheduled slots
  • Sending completed presentation schedules to the Playout Centre
  • Sending daily Post Transmission reports, and various other weekly and monthly reports
  • Potential to learn a basic understanding of programme planning

Person Specification:

  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational, prioritisation and time management skills
  • Able to work to tight deadlines
  • Strong communication skills
  • Enthusiastic team player
  • Proactive in approach
  • A basic understanding of Zeus or other Channel Management systems/databases a bonus
  • Experience in the daily workings of a Channel team a bonus
  • Experience within an office environment is essential
  • Experience in using Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Other duties:

The Media Trust and Community Channel are tightly resourced, tightly staffed organisations. All employees are therefore expected to show flexibility in their role. You will on occasion be expected to carry out duties not specified in your job description - of both more senior and more junior staff.

We have a number of volunteers working on a range of projects across the organisation. Each volunteer has a specified role and line manager and is also supported by the HR Manager. Media Trust volunteers have a track record of moving into interesting paid opportunities in the media and charity sectors. Recent volunteers are now working in organisations such as Two Hand Productions, Dow Jones, Comic Relief, Markettiers 4dc, and Media Trust.
