Reporting to: Executive Assistant to Chief Executive
Contract: Volunteer role for 3 or 6 months
Hours: 3 to 5 days per week
Expenses: Lunch reimbursed at £3.60 per day and travel expenses reimbursed subject to weekly limit of £52.00   
CRB: May be required

Job description:
We are looking for someone to help provide administrative support to the Chief Executive's central office.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the Chief Executive's team with day-to-day tasks including organisation of internal and external events; diary management; phone queries; preparation, coordination and support of internal and external meetings
  • Support central project work
  • Internet focused research
  • Updating and management of the contact database
  • Maintenance of media coverage files
  • Ad hoc assistance to other departments, e.g. training and marketing

Person specification:

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, with ability to deal confidently with people at all levels in Government and media
  • Well organised, with the ability to undertake different and varied tasks and prioritise workloads
  • Excellent IT skills (especially Word and Excel, accurate typing and attention to detail. Mac experience useful
  • Ability to conduct internet focused research
  • Tactful and diplomatic, with the ability to work well with a range of colleagues
  • Commitment to equal opportunities and the aims and values of Media Trust

Jobholder will gain:

  • Knowledge of how management and trustees of a charity operate
  • Mac skills in the workplace
  • Research skills

We have a number of volunteers working on a range of projects across the organisation. Each volunteer has a specified role and line manager and is also supported by the HR Manager. Media Trust volunteers have a track record of moving into interesting paid opportunities in the media and charity sectors. Recent volunteers are now working in organisations such as Two Hand Productions, Dow Jones, Comic Relief, Markettiers 4dc, and Media Trust.
